The Learning Ladder Woodlands

Curriculum Night - 24 January

Curriculum Night, usually set in the first quarter of the year, gives parents an opportunity to visit their child's classroom and learn about the curriculum outlines for the new school year

We believe that it is important for parents to have a clear understanding of our curriculum and the goals to be achieved for the academic year.

Chinese New Year Celebrations - 7 & 8 February

One of the most memorable events of the year, is the Chinese New Year Event. Prior to the celebrations, students learn about the Chinese culture, its beliefs and values.  They make paper dragons, write Chinese calligraphy, make paper lanterns and write their versions of the Chinese New Year celebrations in their journals.

The full Chinese New Year Research project culminates in a 4-hour long event of Chinese New Year songs and dances, exchanging of mandarin oranges and a full lion and dragon dance put up by the Kindergarten students with props they had created themselves.

Back to School Campaign - Month of April

In the "Back To School" event, parents are the kids for one morning!  Parent and child participate together in all of the activities on the timetable for one morning e.g. circle time, outdoor play, music and movement, storytelling, calender time, snack, bathroom routine, learning centres, creative activities, etc.

This is a perfect opportunity for parents of current Learning Ladder children to be fully immersed in their child's learning environment:  experiencing and learning first-hand what your child is taught in class, the teaching methods practised by the staff, the approaches used and the activities conducted to develop skills required for that grade level.

Alumni Day - 13 June

Even after you have left The Learning Ladder, we still consider ex-students as members of our school community.   Our Alumni Event aims to invite students who have left the school and allow them to mingle with our current students, sharing experiences, and stories about the "Life in Primary One".

We feel, it helps current students to anticipate positively the entry into Primary One and the possible excitements and experiences associated with the next phase in their lives.

It also helps The Learning Ladder staff to speak to ex-students and their parents, to find out about their progress in Primary 1, the comments received from their local teachers and gauge their performance through a Graduate Survey.
